Postdoctoral Scholar
Triparana Mukherjee
Triparna holds an MSc in Microbiology and a PhD specialization in understanding microbial resilience, nanotechnology-based solutions, and bioremediation strategies for environmental challenges. She worked with actinobacteria-derived bio-molecules alongside genomic analyses to understand metabolic pathways and genetic adaptations. She has a keen interest in painting, expressing creativity through colors, and enjoys the art of recitation, bringing words to life through voice and expression.
Graduate students
Neelima Bhatt
Neelima joined the group as a doctoral student in the fall of 2023. She has a master's and a bachelor's degree in microbiology. Her current research focuses on studying the ability of methanogens to reduce perchlorate in the presence of carbon monoxide, a toxic gas. She also works with advanced microscopic techniques. During her free time, she enjoys reading and sketching.
Anupkumar Rai
Anshu Sandhu
I completed my B.Sc. in General Sciences, followed by an M.Sc. in Microbial Biotechnology. During my previous research, I worked on chickpea shoot protein profiling involving omics and techniques like SDS-PAGE. This study involved analyzing the effects of plant stress with different types of priming treatments, where we have to identify the proteins responsible for helping the plant overcome drought stress.
Currently, my PhD research focuses on investigating the bile acid metabolism by Eggerthella lenta, a significant member of the gut microbiome, in the presence and absence of hydrogen gas, with a particular interest in understanding its energy conservation pathways and metabolic responses.
Additionally, I enjoy reading books in my leisure time.
Sukhpal Bhullar
After completing his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Sukhpal joined my group. Currently, he is working on the characterization of peroxidases from methanogenic archaea and elucidating the mechanism of electrically polarized coatings for the deactivation of bacteria and archaea.
